Shadewell Blinds has recently introduced a full training programme for blind and awning fitters. A number of requests from Shadewell's existing customers have lead to the company developing a new training programme specifically tailored to those businesses looking to expand their opportunities beyond the retail domestic markets, allowing them to provide external sunshade solutions. The training programme has been designed around the technical aspects of the Shadewell awnings range, and the various ways in which they are fitted. The benefits provided enable Shadewell customers to offer a more professional and expert approach to meeting their customers needs in the fast growing external shading market. This level of expertise not only provides total customer satisfaction on completion of the installation, but also provides a significant edge when dealing with the commercial market, in particular restaurants and pubs. The technical and practical skills gained from this programme will provide those attending with a much improved level of confidence when dealing with their customers. Feedback from those who have already attended the courses indicate that they have gained the perfect springboard for introducing awnings to the commercial alfresco dining market, which is set to explode with the introduction of the smoking ban later this year. The comprehensive training includes everything from initial surveying techniques to fitting the finished product. We have been able to tender for many new jobs, including some larger contracts, since we attended the training session, Hampshire Canopies. The complete training programme is undertaken in Shadewell's own training room at their manufacturing base in Hampshire and delivered by their own very experienced staff, and as a result is flexible in meeting the needs of all attendees. The programme caters for both those new to the industry and those who already have a good understanding, but who wish to brush up on latest designs and systems. Included in the training is a factory tour, helping develop a feel for the products available and providing a great insight into the manufacturing process. Shadewell blinds has more than 25 years of experience working within the awning business including both the domestic and commercial markets. Within this period the company has witnessed many changes within the industry and indeed over the years has worked closely with many of the leading blind and awning component and material suppliers to ensure that the correct products are delivered to meet the requirements of the UK market. "The programme has proved very popular with our current customers, and it is great that we can now offer this training to the wider industry. There is no doubt in my mind that the additional knowledge gained brings a greater level of sales for those who attend,"said Kevin Barry, Shadewell's managing director.
