 2008 was a busy year for Markilux UK and it looks like 2009 is going to go the same way. Blinds & Shutters takes a look at what’s in store
Following the successful opening of the Markilux showroom in Chester, Markilux has announced what it calls its ‘exciting new products and innovations for 2009.’ New Markilux Showroom in Chester
As discussed in this magazine, the showroom in Chester is available to all Markilux distributors and their customers to view the company’s range of products on an appointment basis to enable them to experience the quality and design of markilux’s products. New Markilux Training Academy in the UK
The Markilux Academy offers the company’s specialist partners the opportunity to take part in training at the new Chester showroom. Partners can maximise their sales potential by increasing their knowledge of Markilux products and installation techniques. Markilux launched more innovative new products including the new open awnings, in particular the 930 Swing and the 1000.
Markilux says the 930 Swing is ideal for use where extra shading is needed and where space is restricted e.g. apartment balconies. It offers a unique tilt mechanism and a pitch adjustment of up to 90 degrees is possible.
The company says the futuristic design of the 1000 is extraordinary and unique.
As Professor Andreas Kramer, industrial designer who has worked closely with Markilux in development of designs over the past 13 years said: “…good design must always be new … it’s a matter of using existing, sometimes forgotten elements and re-interpreting them a modern way.”
New additional standard colours are available on all awnings in off-white, stone-grey and anthracite.
Markilux has also introduced new metallic aluminium stylish endcaps, the copmany’s new Plexiglas awning cover board system with LED lighting which can be used with the 930 Swing, 1000 or any Markilux awning.
The 990 is an updated version of the 915 compact cassetted awning and has been reinvented with an elegant new end cap and redesigned front profile.
The 5010 Lounge is a redesign of the 5005 with a more streamlined profile and modern lounge-style end caps. New Fabrics Exclusive to Markilux
Markilux has has launched Sunsilk Perla, a flame retardant and waterproof fabric. The Sunsilk Signature Range is now available in the UK in beautiful new designs using five themes inspired by nature.  Commercial Products
Markilux has been in the commercial sector for many years offering folding-arm awnings, conservatory, vertical and drop-arm awnings but the company also offer the following products:
Syncra Twin Awning
This free-standing double awning has been developed especially for the commercial sector but can also be used domestically. The Syncra can cover up to 56 m2 due to the design and construction of the sturdy steel frame.
The Syncra can be fitted with a variety of Markilux awnings which work either together or independently. Mistral
Markilux describes this as an excellent solution for restaurants, bars, cafes and schools, this unique frame system provides clients shading where needed.
The Mistral offers what the company calls a stylish design with ease of installation, coupled with gas piston technology, ensuring a taught cover and is virtually maintenance free.
Single units can be extended to 7m and coupled units to 20m width. Gutters and downpipes are included in the Mistral.
Parasols and Café Barriers
Markilux has a large selection of commercial parasols in stock in the UK whaich cuts delivery time.
The company can also offer café barriers in marine grade stainless steel with fabrics to match a company’s Markilux awnings.
Markilux will be having an Open Day in the near future to show its new products. In the meantime the company asks people to ring to make an appointment if they wish to come for training or to visit the showroom.
