Keeping the sun off glass roofs in the garden For a lot of people, the patio is transformed into a living room in the garden in the summer months. A cosy atmosphere coupled with a stylish living culture no longer stop at the patio door and glass roofs that protect part of the patio against rain are becoming increasingly popular. These have many advantages including the fact that you can leave your garden furniture outside even in bad weather, and a light rain shower can be a pleasant experience under a glass roof on a warm day. However, these transparent roofs do not offer any protection against the sun's rays. On the contrary, heat accumulates under the glass, even when there are no side walls, and the suns rays can be magnified by the glass making it unbearable to sit underneath. To overcome this problem, the German company Markilux has developed a brand new awning for the perfect living experience outdoors; the underglass Markilux 889. This awning has been designed especially for sun protection under glass roofs and offers the same reliable protection against ultraviolet radiation as the proven outdoor awnings. Wind and water are hardly a problem. Sited under glass, the extended cover is protected from the wind and the disturbing puddles after a rain shower are not an issue. This new sun protection system is slender in design. The side track profiles have a diameter of only 40 millimetres. They can be fixed on the side or from above with slender supports. Despite its slim design, the system offers shade over an area of up to 27 square metres. This is ensured by a sturdy roller and an equally sturdy front profile. Fine, hardly visible stainless steel wires limit droop of the cover which, when retracted, is protected within a small elegant aluminium cassette. This new model can be motorised with the proven motor-operated variable belt tensioning system of elastic fabric. The underglass awning can be fitted with all covers from the Markilux collection. This includes the new Sunsilk SNC covers and Transolair fabric with its special hole structure that allows sufficient light and air to pass through. Markilux - Schmitz-Werke GmbH + Co.
