Coulisse blinds provided the perfect shading for the large areas of glass at the Van Merksteijn International HQ in Almelo, the Netherlands

In 2008 Coulisse, international supplier of indoor sun protection, started a collection for the contract market in which design and functionality go hand in hand.

Last month Coulisse blinds were installed in the new building of Van Merksteijn International HQ in Almelo (the Netherlands) which was designed by Van der Linde Architects. The building has a real designer atmosphere and is characterized by strong, powerful lines and a lot of glass. The stylish interior is modern yet comfortable. Van Merksteijn is a producer of steel wire products and translates its identity to every detail in the design of the luxurious carpets, rolls of steel wire are depicted.

The blinds not only had to fulfil the requirements of the users of the building, but also had to support and even strengthen the visual identity of the company. Furthermore the characteristic openness of the building had to be preserved. Therefore the architect selected roller blinds with Coulisse screens 4500 in Ebony for blinding the many tall windows of the building. The colour perfectly matches the stylish interior and the colour of the window frames. A powerful whole was created which strengthens the design atmosphere on the inside as well as on the outside of the building. The dark screen with an openness factor of 5 per cent ensures visual contact with the outside and prevents reflections of light in computer screens, both of which are essential for the visual comfort on the working place.

The Coulisse roller blind systems make the high end, industrial atmosphere complete. The nicely shaped ceiling brackets are made of metal. As the side profiles have the same ral-colour as the window frames they are hardly visible. As the bottom rails are made heavier, the screen has a perfect hanging conduct. In order to meet today’s demands regarding comfort and ease of operation all systems were automated with Absolute Control of Coulisse.
