Faber Blinds has completed a highly specialised installation for the energy supplier, Gazprom Marketing and Trading, at its new offices in Hampton Wick. 

In a building that is partially sunk below the level of the Thames, the installation, which had to be carried out in phases due to the nature of the building work, required detailed planning from Faber staff working closely with the building’s contractors.

Eighteen windows, some with a drop of 3905mm and a width of 4550mm, were fitted with Metamatic electrically operated Venetian blinds with 50mm slats – a large, industrial type blind with a stylish, non-industrial appearance. The blinds were custom-made at the Faber factory in Northampton and are powered by a Dunker motor D839, necessary for operating such large blinds.

The ceilings in the building had to be sealed at a very early stage, requiring the electrical engineer from Faber to work closely with the electrical contractors, to ensure that all wiring for the blinds was in place two months prior to fitting. Building work on the project also meant a false floor had to be built and this, plus scaffolding, provided Faber with many challenges of access and fitting. In all eight planning visits were made to ensure the job was completed to the client’s satisfaction and Faber’s high standards.
