Four of the best

This summer saw the launch of a new group that’s got windows covered.

This June saw the formal launch of Wingspan Solutions, a collective of four companies who all have one thing in common: window covering.

The four companies that have come together are: Cracknells Contracts, Grants Blinds, Grants Shading and HDB Blinds. When you put them all together you have a group whose clients range from the public sector (principally schools and hospitals), through country house conservatory owners to cutting-edge modernist architectural projects. Not to mention supplying directly to retailers and interior designers.

The product spread is equally impressive, ranging from curtains and roof sails to sophisticated, motorised blinds and shutter systems.

All of the companies are continuing to trade using their familiar names but under the Wingspan umbrella they can now all offer a broader range of products and expertise to their clients.

HDB Blinds
HDB Blinds is a familiar name to owners of specialist blind shops. It’s also well known on the interior designers’ scene. Established in 1982, HDB has built a solid reputation based on quality, reliability and expertise. Flexibility has always been at the core of HDB, which allows clients to work with it according to their own preference.

This approach to business was born out of years of working with blinds retailers and interior designers. Approaches vary and HDB has become flexible in how it tailors its services to suit the client. This can range from simply supplying products to measuring, supplying and fitting entire projects nationwide.

New for HDB this autumn is the ‘price advantage weave material’ (pic 1). This range of pinoleum blinds brings real value in the most popular colourways with the option of a highly effective and naturally reflective Solarwood backing. Some other upcoming trends available through HDB are roller blinds with printed images on them (pic 2) – which can be an image supplied by the customer – and a colour-matching service. Colour-matching can be used across wooden shutters and blinds as well matching the customer’s paint specification.
