Product portfolio sees Stevens move forward

The feeling of many people in the blinds industry during this period of economic constraints is to ‘baton down the hatches’ and wait for the good times to return. Gordon Stevens, managing director of Stevens (Scotland) Ltd has a totally different view on how his company plans to come out of the recession

“We have been a successful manufacturer of blinds for over 40 years and during that time we have introduced many innovative products.

The Stevens ethos has consistently been to bring new products to the trade that offer an exciting alternative to the norm. In these more challenging times, when we see new opportunities to increase our product portfolio we believe the decision to move forward is still the right one. With the current climate being one of the toughest times in the market place we have a wide selection of new product to introduce and we are doing so with confidence.

The first product to be launched is Rooflight Blinds; these are designed to fit almost all types of sloping windows and roof lights including all Velux, Keylight and Fakro Windows. As would be expected, both roller and pleated fabrics are available along with the inspiring option of the Combination Blind. The systems are available in either aluminium finish or white.

The Rooflight roller version will be available from the Stevens main roller collection together with all fabrics in the Unique roller collection. Side channels are provided to ensure the smooth operation of the blind and to provide a high degree of light control.
The Rooflight pleated blind is available with all pleated and honeycomb fabrics in the Stevens pleated collection.

The Rooflight combination blind is, as the name suggests, a combination of a roller blind and a pleated blind. The roller blind is positioned at the top of the window and the pleated blind is then attached to the bottom bar of the roller blind. Both blinds may be fully open or individually closed.

Following closely on the heels of the Rooflight blinds, Stevens is launching its own Mono-Command vertical blind system which is available as a chain only operation, wand control or even a motorised version. These options are not necessarily innovative but they have never been more readily available at such competitive prices to the trade.

Additionally the design features make the product stand out from the crowd. Take note of these eye-catching features:

  • With open and closed vertical blinds, the louver stack or the last louver closes seamlessly against the wall leaving no annoying gaps to spoil the view.
  • Through a new design of our slat traveller, the entire louver stack is much narrower! Allowing an unrestricted view and a more open appearance of the window.
  • With a single movement the entire louver stack can be easily removed from the slat travellers and just as simply replaced. This saves a great deal of time and effort when window cleaning and assembling the blind back into situation.
  • Through new technology, the louvers always return to the correct position after a fault on the end of the track has been diagnosed and repaired. No more sorting prior to closing them and the system is not damaged.
  • Whether PVC or fabric louvers, hooking in and out is ‘child’s play’ with the patented clamp supports, louvers always sit perfectly.
  • Due to the new 200º turning of the louvers, the vertical blinds now close without gaps. Like a closed curtain, perfect sight protection is ensured.
  • New technology ensures absolute silent running of the blind. Even after years, it opens and closes like magic.

Select the type of drive system for your vertical blinds; manual or comfortably with motor and infrared remote control. In either case, we can offer your customer many years of enjoyment with your new ‘window covering’. The newly developed, robust motor is easily fitted, adjusted and is maintenance-free.”

...and what of the future for the family owned Stevens (Scotland) Ltd? In the words of Gordon Stevens:
“‘To baton down the hatches’ is not an option for our company. We have grown into one of the major contributors to the blind industry, with a hard earned reputation for quality product and a service second-to-none.

These attributes, matched with a desire to continually improve, will hold us in good stead for the future. We are proud of the fact that in these testing times we have not only retained our full workforce but have also recruited more people. However, key to our progression is consistent improvement in both product and service which we genuinely believe that our customers should receive the very best from Stevens (Scotland) Ltd.”
