Louvolite tells Blinds & Shutters: ‘Roman blinds occupy that ‘no mans land’ between hard window coverings (blinds) and soft window coverings (curtains)’ For many blind manufacturing companies the thought of manufacturing roman blinds would be a bridge too far as the lack of sewing machine expertise and the requirement of additional staff and equipment would seem to be onerous. However this does not have to be the case and the Louvolite says its Roman blind programme has been specifically designed to provide access to the soft window covering market for manufacturers of hard window coverings. Typically, roman blind manufacture begins with curtain fabric needing to be sewn into a size that is acceptable to meet the customer’s window measurements – many curtain fabrics come no wider than 54” (approx 135mm) and therefore for wider windows these could need to be joined. In addition, the fabric requires hemming to inhibit fraying and of course the loops need to be created in the back of the fabric to receive the rods that initiate the folding sections of the product when operating as a blind. Louvolite Roman blind fabric is received already looped. It can be cut to size using typical blind manufacturing cutting techniques without fear of fraying. Simply decide which operating system you wish to use with the fabric, assemble and the job is done. Manufacturing the Louvolite Roman blind provides two finished blind operating options. The Classic Roman blind which is flat to view when deployed, or Louvolite’s new Soft Fold Roman blind which features an overlapping fold of fabric at regular intervals, even when the blind is deployed. Louvolite even supplys the component parts required to allow simple manufacturing of both options and of course any training that may be required. The roman collection is presented in an attractive fabric book. Strong photography partnered with a lively and informative layout make this the essential sales aid. A full range of finishing accessories is also available to co-ordinate and complement the blinds, effectively customising each sale to the individual client’s tastes.
