One product that has passed these tests is their new range of tubular motors for awnings: the Blue Wave. These motors have been developed specifically for the awning industry and they are being trialled by some of the biggest manufacturers throughout Europe. Motus Systems is now able to unveil this new range of motors which are engineered to exacting European standards by the Italian manufacturer Cherubini – one of the motor manufacturers that are represented in the UK by Motus Systems.

For Cherubini, the Blue Wave range reflects the values at the very heart of their company. The company explained: “The Blue Wave is an exquisite piece of engineering that combines the flair of Italian design with cutting-edge technology. The patented system has already proved to be a success and this motor is beginning to cause ‘ripples’ throughout the trade.” The company added: “In addition to the integrated radio receiver, these motors have several features that are unique. The technology in the motor is such that you can adjust the force with which the awning closes to compensate for any irregularities in the cassette or the wall. For example, if the awning is fitted to an uneven wall and the cassette isn’t closing neatly all the way along, you can increase the torque of the motor to keep the awning tightly closed without stretching the fabric. The motors are also equipped with obstacle recognition and all the limits can be set from the remote.”

As with all the Cherubini products, the Blue Wave motor has been researched and designed in their own purpose-built unit on the shores of Lake Garda. The factory covers 11,000m² and they explained that “by keeping all the processes in-house, we are able to monitor and control the quality of workmanship at every stage of production.”

Another line that has recently been added to the product range is the battery operated roller blind motors that Motus Systems get direct from America. Since its launch, this motor has proved to be very popular throughout the country with the blind manufacturers, architects and interior designers who all comment on the neat and compact design.

The new motor is powered by standard AA batteries and there are options on infra-red and radio controls. The new motor kit is available in component form or as part of the barrel assembly service which is one of the specialities offered by Motus Systems.
