SHY makes it easy for clients to make the right choice with comprehensive data on its range of solar shading systems
What’s more important: the measuring or the fitting, the hardware or the fabric?

Of course the answer is that they are all equally important in providing an effective and robust solar shading system that meets clients’ expectations. For this reason SHY (UK) offers training for all of its existing and prospective dealers on how to survey, install and commission its entire commercial roller blind range. Some systems are more forgiving than others, but if you are fitting a 7m-drop fully cassetted Zip Screen the margin for error is significantly reduced and the hints and tips from SHY’s experts will prove invaluable.

When it comes to commercial roller blind hardware SHY has this sorted too, with nine roller barrel diameters, five headboxes and six operating methods for gravity drop, lifting, shaped, angled and roof blinds up to 72m2.

But what about the bit the client sees the most: the fabric? How do you help your client to select the most appropriate material for their roller blinds? How do they perform, what do they look like and how do you interpret the fabric’s performance data?

SHY has given this some considerable thought and has developed a clever range of fabric selectors for each of its 12 Solarscene (screen) and 8 Solarblock (dimout and blackout) ranges. Each card has a swatch pack that can be swung out of the selector and all the performance data of the cloths in terms of solar (heat) and optical (light) properties are displayed in graphical format so it is easy to see at a glance how each colour in each range performs. As all the data has been compiled under the same European Standard you can easily make direct comparisons safe in the knowledge you are comparing like with like.

With screen fabrics, a common question is what can be seen through the cloth both from inside the building to outside and vice versa. Obviously, light levels affect this but SHY has taken indicative photographs under controlled conditions to show the view out and the view in through every colour of every fabric in the Solarscene range, again helping you to help your clients make the right choice.

And to complete the information, data on cloth widths, weights, thicknesses, how fabric joins would work on larger blinds, flame-retardancy information and what SHY systems the fabrics are suitable for are also clearly detailed.
So when it comes to selecting the right roller blind system with the right fabric, life has just got that bit easier with SHY.
