Two new outdoor fabric care products
Thursday, 29 March 2007 01:00
In line with its objective of constantly improving the quality of its textiles and significantly prolonging their service life, Dickson-Constant, Europe's leading awning fabric manufacturer, now endorses a maintenance kit for outdoor fabrics.

Developed by the US firm 303 Products, this kit is distributed by Dickson-Constant as a European exclusivity. The maintenance products are ideal for cleaning fabrics on a regular basis, protecting them against damp and grease and restoring their original waterproof properties and surface treatments, etc.

Dickson-Constant textiles are specially designed for year-round outdoor use. A specialist in technical solar protective and outdoor fabrics, Dickson-Constant relies on the ultra-resistant qualities of Sunacryl solution-dyed acrylic fibre. Colour pigments thus penetrate right to the heart of fibres during manufacture, offering exceptional resistance to UV rays and the harmful effects of the sun. Permeable to air, the textiles are water-repellent thanks to the Cleangard treatment, applied during manufacture. This gives fabrics exceptional water and dirt-resistant properties (pollution, greasy substances, etc).

To ensure that outdoor fabrics last longer, Dickson-Constant now acts as European distributor of two care products which prolong the effectiveness of original treatments.

303 Fabric Cleaner can be used for regular maintenance of outdoor fabrics and removing marks and dirt. 303 High Tech Fabric Guard is a resurfacing product which restores the fabric's original hydrophobic (water-resistant) and anti-stain properties. Stopping leaks in their tracks, it also prevents stains and patches of damp forming. Dickson-Constant also distributes 303 Aerospace Protectant, a benchmark product for protecting materials such as vinyl, PVC, rubber and fibre-glass against UV. Originally developed for the aerospace industry, the product's preventive action is comparable to a UPF 40 sunscreen.
Season after season, day and night, outdoor fabrics are subject to harsh conditions including sun, rain, wind, sea salt and even pollution. To preserve outdoor fabrics, it is necessary to clean them and revive surface treatments on a regular basis. Fabrics should be stretched tight and sprayed with water, vacuumed, air-cleaned, beaten or brushed around once a month to remove dust. In winter, awning fabrics should be protected with a cover.

The product is available from the two Dickson distributors Luxaflex and Winsol UK, and from the Sunbrella distributor Shadewell Blinds.
