SHY (UK) has the data to explain why its Zip Screen remains fully cassetted.
Now in its 13th year of UK manufacture, the SHY Zip Screen has always been fully cassetted and there is an increasing demand for performance data not only from architects and engineers but increasingly from the blinds trade as well. It is for this reason that SHY (UK) has had all of its fabrics independently tested in accordance with European standards. This means that the performance data is not only impartial and accurate but it can also be used in building modelling systems to prove the benefits of the fabric and blind system chosen by the specifier. Martin Dibben, managing director of SHY (UK), explains: “Window blinds serve a number of functions from strictly practical to aesthetic, but there is a growing appreciation of their energy saving and light control characteristics. Getting the balance right between harvesting natural light but controlling glare, using passive gain in the winter then preserving this and yet reducing excess thermal gains in the summer is a delicate balance and one which could affect the overall energy balance of the building. It is for this reason we have gone to the expense of ensuring every fabric we offer for our roller blind systems has been independently tested to European Standards.” Light gain and view through the fabric are key considerations in the specification of a blind system. As well as having the performance data, SHY (UK) has taken carefully controlled photographs of every screen fabric in its SolarScene range so you and your clients can see the indicative view out of the building during the day and view in at night. So from SHY (UK) not only do you have the right hardware system in Zip Screen, with the original zip mechanism, but the full cassette improves its thermal efficiency and you have independent data and photographs of the performance of every fabric. It really is that simple to get framed!

Internal roller blinds that are fully cassetted are typically 3.6 times more thermally efficient than a conventional roller blind using the same fabric.
