Grants Shading finds a bespoke and fully motorised roller blind solution for an unusual atrium-style structure

Maybe some of the best concepts are the simplest. But retaining the style and feel of the original idea by the time it has become a working reality is not always straightforward.

Grants Shading specialises in providing solutions that meet specific client requirements, whether for a modernist interior or a stately home.

An example of a recent case study is when Oxfordshire Architects had a domestic client who had enclosed an existing courtyard with a glazed atrium-style structure. The client was reluctant to have a lot of traditional conservatory blinds installed, which would have been too bitty for what they had in mind. In addition to this, the client did not want blinds that stacked at the base of the roof and needed a system that went completely out of site when not required.

Grants Shading was able to offer a simplistic roller blind solution, which needed to be heavy duty due to the sizes required: eight large Endurashade roof roller blinds, with specialist manufactured bracketry and made using high performance grey sunscreen material to ensure good levels of heat and glare reduction were achieved.

The blinds were designed to operate around a relieving roller bar sited at the corner between the sloping roof and the vertical glazed panels. A purpose-built blind box was also designed and installed for the blinds to stack behind completely out of sight at cill level.  The blinds are fully motorised and operate via a radio remote control handset.

As part of the Wingspan Group, Grants Shading works closely with architects and specifiers to make their ideas for shading become a reality.  Drawing on long-established experience gained in this specialist field, they can work together to achieve the best solution for you.
