Ballauff’s pinoleum roman blinds are the perfect solution for ‘living under glass’
But ‘living under glass’ can present problems when it comes to shading, reflection and heat retention. This is where Ballauff pinoleum roman blinds come in. Pinoleum (or bois-tissé) is a woven wood fabric manufactured into strips (known as reeds), producing a soft, dappled light effect even on a very sunny day. Ballauff pinoleum provides blinds for all styles of opening windows, but is particularly popular for conservatory use as even complex window and roof shapes can be retracted (for complex installations it is advised that blinds be fitted by a specialist). Pinoleum is especially suited for the roof blinds in a conservatory as the weaving process gives the blinds strength along their whole width so they will not distort or sag. To cut down on glare, the roman blinds are available in Ballauff’s patented Solarwood finish. This reflective, pearlised coating, applied to one side of the blind, either in natural pinoleum or any of the colours in the Ballauff Collection, increases the shading effect. Pinoleum blinds by themselves provide good insulation from heat build-up in conservatories, and the Solarwood finish further reduces the amount of heat transmitted through the blind, thus keeping the room beautifully cool on the sunniest of days. An added bonus is the Solarwood finish actually makes the blinds easier to clean as the coating protects the individual slats from dust and dirt.
All Ballauff roman blinds come complete with a hardwood top and bottom rail together with a brass cleat. The blinds are fitted with a natural cotton edging braid available in 11 shades so you can colour co-ordinate with your blind, and are also available with colour co-ordinated pull cords.

We all love being able to enjoy fresh air and sunshine. However, the Great British climate limits the days we can spend outside to the spring and summer, hence the rise of the conservatory – an indoor room that gives the impression of being outdoors all year round.
For those wishing to protect their privacy, Ballauff has now introduced a special Privacy Lining. This natural fabric lining can be stitched to the back of the blind and with a choice of pinoleum reed and fabric, customers can dictate just how much diffused light can pass through the blind. Individual requirements are carefully considered to create the perfect environment and ensure the right fabrics are chosen from the extensive range with two new colours – Sage Green and Victorian Grey – giving the customer even more choice. With wooden Pinoleum, not only is each blind unique – each reed is unique. Ballauff pinoleum provides blinds for any shape, size or style of conservatory and for all styles of opening windows.
