SHY goes Dutch
Friday, 16 July 2010 00:00

Cementing the new trading relationship between SHY (UK) and Verosol saw SHY manufacture over 100 motorised dimout blinds for a prestigious office block in the Netherlands where Verosol had supplied 1,000 high performance roller blinds to the bulk of the building.

Verosol’s metallised coating to the reverse of the fabric provides their blinds with unrivalled performance in terms of heat rejection, glare control and, depending on the fabric type, it often preserves a view to the outside as well. Such is the proven performance of this technology in terms of energy saving and user comfort that Verosol products are highly specified across continental Europe and increasingly in the UK.

SHY produced motorised Zip Screen blinds using a fabric with just 1 per cent openness to provide a high level dimout to meeting rooms and other sensitive areas but SHY’s real expertise came in some of the larger blinds in this building.

The client wanted the ultimate in light control so a twin blind involving a blackout fabric and a screen fabric was the obvious solution. However, such was the size of the glazing that a custom-designed headbox was required to accommodate the widths of 2.4m and drops of up to 6.4m. These blinds were also fitted to a curved ceiling that sloped outwards so the use of the Zip channels ensured that the fabric was always retained and yet ran smoothly.

Commenting on this installation, SHY (UK) managing director Martin Dibben said: “We were delighted to help Verosol secure this order by providing them with these motorised and twin systems and we look forward to working with the Verosol team on future projects in the UK and further afield.”
