Coulisse is one the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands and is also well established in the UK and Irish market. Since 1992 Coulisse has designed, produced and sold components for window decorations for a growing international customer base. It supplies a huge variety of components for window covering products - ranging from slats and components for wooden blinds to components and fabrics for roller blinds, vertical blinds and pleated blinds. New Paterno A revolution in style, light and privacy control, Coulisse has recently introduced Paterno, the winner of the R+T Innovation Prize 2006. The Paterno window decoration clearly distinguishes itself from other systems. The system has a designer look and the transparent panels and fabric components can be drawn from top to bottom and vice versa. It is ideal for keeping out the sun and maintaining privacy. Different materials can be used for the panels, from fabric features until translucent panels. Also the cover caps can be changed into different materials and colours. The revolutionary Paterno system was introduced in January 2004 at Heimtextil. Coulisse was immediately enthusiastic and took over the patent from the designer Anke Nippen. In the past year the Coulisse product development department has made technical improvements to the design and has made it more user-friendly. Offering consumers new choices In January 2006, Coulisse introduced a new innovation: XL-pleat. This is a plissĀ fabric with an extra large pleat of 50mm instead of the usual 20 or 25mm. Coulisse is setting a new trend with the XL-pleat, which makes it possible for consumers to give their homes a distinctive character. XL-pleat was designed and developed by Coulisse, and the company holds the exclusivity on this innovation. Not only are the XL-pleats themselves exceptional, but the new product also has unique pitch cord. These keep the pleats in place at an angle of exactly ninety degrees. It does not matter whether the window decoration is one metre long or three metres. This is exceptional because for existing window decorations, there are often differences between the angles of each pleat. The wide pleats make the window blind ideal for large patterns. But if consumers prefer a quieter design, then single-colour fabrics are also available. As well as the choice of colours and patterns, the fabric properties of the XL-pleat are also extremely varied and include crushed pearl, taft pearl, Trevira CS (flame retardant), vaporized aluminium and jacquard. The pitch cord and pulling cords are available in fifteen decorative and matching colours. In June 2006, Coulisse started supplying the XL-pleat exclusively to Kadeco in Germany. The introduction was a great success. Over the next few months, more European customers will be supplying the product, so that there is every probability that XL-pleat will gradually become a feature of living rooms throughout the continent.
