Hillarys and Homebase
Monday, 07 July 2008

Hillarys has teamed up with one of the leading home improvement retailers, Homebase, to trial what it calls a unique service through the retailer’s stores.
Hillarys’ core business is its made-to-measure blinds and shutters service where the company’s advisors measure up and fit blinds in the customer’s home.

Through this joint venture, Hillarys will seek to provide the same service for Homebase customers who want to ‘get someone in’ rather than do it themselves, similar to the award-winning kitchens and bathrooms installation service now offered in Homebase stores. Rose Haines, group communications manager for Hillarys says that the partnership has arisen as a result of Homebase listening to its customers about the kinds of services they want.

“Homebase is looking to broaden its service to people who want extra support when it comes to doing jobs around the home,” said Mrs Haines. “We were delighted to have the opportunity to get involved and embark on our first retail partnership.

“For Hillarys it’s another way of raising the profile and increasing awareness of our brand on the back of all our marketing activity, most notably our recent TV campaign.”

At the outset, the initiative will be trialled in five Homebase outlets in the Birmingham region with a bespoke stand featuring specially designed literature and a dedicated telephone number. If successful, it will then be rolled out to more Homebase stores within the UK.

Hillarys has also developed online services web-blinds.com and blindssupermarket.co.uk and sales of awnings. The company also sells to non-residential commercial customers through a separate division, HCD.
