Shutters widen Dimensions offering
Tuesday, 15 April 2008 01:00

Dimensions by Arena has announced the launch of what it calls its stylish new Shutters collection.

Practical, hard-wearing and elegant, the new range is available in four different wood types to suit a variety of needs and budgets, a choice of four Shutter styles and 50 stained finishes and colours. Customers can also choose to have their Shutters painted to match their colour scheme by opting for one of up to 200 shades from either Dulux trade or Farrow & Ball paints.

The new collection also provides the perfect solution for awkward and unusual shaped windows as the shutter can be made to perfectly fit almost any form, from arched to hexagonal and more or less anything in between.

Sarah Quilliam, head of product design for Dimensions believes that Shutters are generally regarded as the ultimate in window dressings with the market for them already incredibly buoyant and set to continue to grow.

“Shutters offer an additional set of benefits to other window treatments,” said Sarah.  “They offer fantastic light control, privacy and additional security that works in any number of different room settings and house types, from traditional and period to modern and minimalist.

“People are seeing them as a fashionable but timeless way of increasing the value of their homes,” she added, “something that is becoming more and more important if the housing market is due to get a little tougher.”

Choice of Shutter styles:

Tier-on-tier
This allows the top tier of panels to swing open independently from the bottom set, allowing full light to enter through the top of the window, leaving the bottom section closed if necessary.

Café style
These are panels that only cover the bottom section of the window, creating privacy at the lower level whilst permitting full daylight to enter through the top of the window.

Full height
No surprises here – these are single full height panels. However if the shutter is over 180cm it will need to have a mid rail. This allows greater control of light as the top panel can be operated separately to the bottom one. It’s an optional extra for shutters under 180cm.

Solid shutter
As the name suggests this style is solid wood with no louvres – rather like a casement shutter, ideal for houses that are situated near busy roads or where security could be an issue.

Material ranges

Each shutter type is available in a range of wood types to suit different budgets from ‘Classic’ LDF and Phoenix Wood through to Yellow Poplar and Western Red Cedar and four louvre sizes – 47mm, 64mm, 89mm and 114mm.

The launch of Shutters follows hot on the heels of the introduction of Dimensions new Sliding Panels and Digitally Printed Roller Blind collections and updates to both the Woodweave and Roman Blind ranges.

“We’re delighted to be increasing the range of products available through Dimensions so that we can meet the needs of an ever wider cross section of customers,” added Sarah. “The choices within more conventional collections such as Romans, Rollers and Verticals have never been greater whilst we aim to appeal to a different market and customer through contemporary products such as Shutters and Sliding Panels.”
